(Las Vegas).- Nevada's casinos had a good start to the new year. Nonrestricted gaming licensees in the state reported a win revenue of about $1.28 billion for January, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Nevada gaming win hits $1.28 B to start 2024

That's an increase of 0.51% compared to January 2023, when the gaming win was $1.27 billion, though a dip from the monthly record set this past December.

Casinos on the Las Vegas Strip took a small drop as well. The gaming win on the Strip was $686.2 million, a decline of about 3.8% from the year-ago month.

Meanwhile, Northern Nevada saw a big jump. Washoe County's gaming win was up 35% from January last year, to $87.7 million. Casinos in Reno made up $65.4 million of that win, a 55% year-over-year increase for licensees in the Biggest Little City.

Nevada ultimately collected $99.7 million in percentage fees based on the taxable revenue generated in January, the Gaming Control Board reports.

January brought in crowds for New Year's Day and the annual CES show. Figures from February, which would include Super Bowl LVIII, are expected to be released toward the end of March.
